WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s lacrosse team downed Bucknell, 19-13. Led by freshman attack Jolie Creo, the Crusaders tallied 12 goals in the second half to take down Bucknell. Three Crusaders set career-highs as Juliana Kubler made 15 saves, Jolie Creo scored five goals and posted six points, and Keely Connors recorded 16 draw controls.

 

Connors’ 16 draw controls sent her into the lead in the all-time career draw controls list at Holy Cross. The senior has now recorded 217 career draw controls and 70 in the 2019 season.

 

The first half was back-and-forth between the Crusaders and the Bison, with Holy Cross erasing a two-goal deficit to come back and tie the game 7-7 at the close of the first half.

 

Jolie Creo and Bryn Carroll opened the scoring with two goals in under one minute of play. The Bison responded with three goals of their own to take the lead.

 

With 9:06 to play in the first half Bucknell led 4-6 and again 7-6, but it would be the last lead of the game for the Bison. Audrey Mandaro, Izzy Grant, Creo, and Molly Pfaff tallied goals to even the sheet before the end of the half.

 

Creo again opened the scoring again followed by Baker Earl’s sixth goal of the season. As the team’s continued to go back-and-forth, Holy Cross broke through at 18:31 when Molly Pfaff added her second goal of the game to put the Crusaders ahead 12-11, and send the team on a three-goal run.

 

With 16:13 to play, Holy Cross led 14-11. In the final 11 minutes, The Crusaders outscored the Bison, 5-2. With 5:26 to play, The Crusaders rattled off four-straight goals to secure the win, 19-13.

 

CRUSADER LEADERS:

  • Creo led with six points.
  • Maggie Moriarty tied a career-high with four assists and one goal.
  • Connors added two assists for the first time this season.
  • Haley Walker posted four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Holy Cross had nine goal scorers.

 

NOTES & NUMBERS:

  • Holy Cross outshot Bucknell, 45-33.
  • The Crusaders recorded 26 draw controls to Bucknell’s seven.
  • Kubler made 15 saves to Jamisen DeWitt’s 11.
