VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Holy Cross women’s lacrosse team fell at Villanova, 17-5, on March 6. Holy Cross saw five different goal scorers in the game.

 

Holy Cross (1-5) scored the first goal of the game at the 26:04 to take a 1-0 lead by way of Catherine Guanci. Jolie Creo picked up her third assist of the season on the play. Villanova (3-3) responded with a five goal run in just over four minutes.

 

Maragret Mitchell scored her first collegiate goal on a free position shot to stop the Wildcat run and close the gap to 5-2 at 20:39 on the clock. The Wildcats added four more goals to take a 9-2 lead with just under nine minutes to play in the half. Maggie Moriarty tallied an unassisted goal at 6:43 to close out the first half scoring.

 

In the opening 15 minutes of the second half, Villanova scored four goals to take a 14-3 lead. Baker Earl put the Crusaders on the board in the second half with 6:51 remaining in the game. The Wildcats added two more goals to hold a 16-4 lead with 3:08 to play. One minute later, Keely Connors scored to give Holy Cross its fifth goal. Villanova added the final goal with nine seconds to play to secure the 17-5 win.

 

Juliana Kubler started the game and picked up six saves while Sophie Ochs played 21:29 minutes and recorded two saves.
