BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore forward Matt Faw scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed five rebounds as the Holy Cross men's basketball team defeated Lehigh 73-71 at Stabler Arena. The Crusaders improve to 15-14 overall and 6-10 in the Patriot League with the victory, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 18-9 on the season and 11-5 in the conference.

Lehigh led 71-65 with less than three minutes to play, before a three-pointer by Faw and a jumper by sophomore guard Jacob Grandison made it a one-point game (71-70) with 1:36 remaining. Then with just 41.9 seconds on the clock, senior forward Jehyve Floyd converted a three-point play on a put back to give Holy Cross the lead for good. The Mountain Hawks had one last possession, but Lance Tejada's three-point attempt as time expired was off the mark.

Lehigh opened the game with an early 10-5 lead, before the Crusaders used a 16-4 run to pull in front by seven (21-14) with 12:35 left in the first half. The Mountain Hawks responded with eight straight points to regain the lead, and neither team would lead by more than five for the rest of the half. Holy Cross eventually took a 36-35 advantage into the locker room. The Crusaders extended their lead to seven points (46-39) early in the second half, and were still up by six (56-50) with 11 minutes remaining. Lehigh responded with a 16-5 run to pull back ahead, and went on to lead by six before Holy Cross rallied in the closing minutes.

The Crusaders made 45.8 percent of their field goal attempts and 38.5 percent of their three-pointers on the day, while committing just eight turnovers. The Mountain Hawks hit 41.5 percent of their shots from the floor and 35.3 percent of their attempts from three-point range.

Floyd finished the game with 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four blocks and two steals, while hitting all seven of his field goal attempts. Sophomore guard Austin Butler added 14 points and five assists, while Grandison finished with 11 points and four rebounds. Tejada led Lehigh with 18 points on six of 18 shooting.

The Crusaders will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 27, when they travel to Colgate for a 6:00 p.m. game.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Lehigh's .415 field goal percentage was its lowest since making just 39.3 percent of its shots at Kansas State on Nov. 24.
• The Crusaders won at Stabler Arena for the first time since defeating the Mountain Hawks 59-56 in the 2016 Patriot League championship game.
