WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward Jehyve Floyd posted 18 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots, but the Holy Cross men’s basketball team was defeated by Boston University 70-60 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders fall to 14-14 overall and 5-10 in the Patriot League with the loss, while the Terriers improve to 12-16 on the season and 5-10 in the conference.

Holy Cross made 46.2 percent of its field goal attempts and 88.9 percent of its free throws on the night, but was only able to connect on 21.1 percent of its three-pointers. The Terriers hit 47.3 percent of their shots from the floor and 51.9 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc, in addition to holding a 37-26 rebounding advantage.

Boston University led 17-16 after the first eight minutes of play, before using a 6-0 run to go up by seven (23-16). The Crusaders responded with an 11-3 spurt to claim a 27-26 advantage with six minutes left before the break. But the Terriers then closed out the half with a 11-2 run to lead 37-29 heading into the locker room.

Holy Cross closed the within five points (41-36) early in the second half, before Boston University used a 15-2 spurt to take a commanding 56-38 lead with 10:34 left to play. The Terriers were later up by 21 (65-44) with six minutes to go, when the Crusaders scored nine straight points to make things interesting. Holy Cross eventually closed to within nine (67-58 with 2:36 remaining), but would get no closer as Boston University held on for a 10-point victory.

Sophomore guard Austin Butler finished the game with 17 points and three assists. Jonas Harper led the Terriers with 22 points.

The Crusaders will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 24, when they travel to Lehigh for a 12:00 p.m. game.

• The game between the Crusaders and the Terriers was part of the fourth annual Turnpike Trophy competition, in which Boston University now holds a 10-2 lead.
• Harper was selected as the game’s Turnpike Trophy MVP.
