The Holy Cross women’s basketball team will look to bounce back at conference-leading American in a matchup on Wednesday, January 30. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (11-8, 3-5):

  • Holy Cross comes off a tough 75-71 loss at Bucknell on Saturday, January 26. The Crusaders led with 2:34 to go in the contest, but the Bison were able to pull away late to earn the victory.
  • Three players were in double figures for the Crusaders: junior Megan Swords (17 points), junior Lauren Manis (15 points, 10 rebounds) and freshman Avery LaBarbera (15 points).
  • The Crusaders continue to lead the Patriot League in 3-point percentage, shooting 37.4 percent from beyond the arc in league play.
  • Swords has scored in double figures in each of her past three games and in seven of the past eight.


Things to Know About the Eagles (11-8, 7-1):

  • After dropping their conference opener to Bucknell, the Eagles have won seven consecutive contests, including a 60-45 victory over Lafayette on Saturday.
  • Cecily Carl led the way for American in the victory, with 18 points, four rebounds and two steals. Indeya Sanders was also in double figures with 12 points along with six rebounds.
  • Four Eagles have averaged double-digit points this season: Kaitlyn Marenyi (12.8), Elina Koskimies (12.7), Carl (12.5) and Kaitlyn Lewis (12.1).
  • The Eagles rank second in the Patriot League with an average of 64.8 points per league contest, and lead the league with a +13.1 scoring margin in conference games.
  • American has held its opponents to just 32.8 percent shooting from the field and 24.8 percent shooting from 3-point range during Patriot League play, both the best marks in the league.
  • American has a 7-1 record at home this season.


Last Time They Met:

  • The Eagles swept the season series a year ago, with Holy Cross falling in overtime in Worcester, 68-63, on January 24, 2018, before dropping a 72-57 result in Washington on February 21, 2018.
  • Then-freshman Jenay Faulkner had her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss at American. Junior Lauren Manis had 13 points to lead the Crusaders in scoring.
  • Carl was in double figures for the Eagles in that contest, posting 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
