Men's Track and Field Competes at BU Terrier Classic
The Holy Cross track and field team competed at Boston University’s John Thomas Terrier Classic on Saturday, January 26.
Junior Garrett Fortin highlighted the day with a New England-qualifying time of 22.36 seconds in the 200 meters, placing 36th out of 137 competitors in the event.
Senior Alexander Escada placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles, running a personal-best time of 8.85 seconds.
Sophomore Daniel Dempsey came in seventh in the high jump, matching his personal record of 1.95 meters.
Senior Brandon Thornhill won his section of the 60 meter dash, running a personal-best time of 7.42 seconds to place 27th overall.
Freshman Will Hornyak had a personal best of 1:56.62 in the 800 meter run, finishing 59th. Fellow rookie Corey Kumamoto saw his first collegiate track action, placing 62nd and running a time of 1:56.75.
Senior Tom Chiappini had a personal best of 13.34 meters in the shot put, finishing 20th overall.
Sophomore Michael Pichay was 14th in the long jump with a leap of 6.70 meters.
The Crusaders will next be in action on February 1 and 2 at the New England Championships, to be held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
