WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward Jehyve Floyd totaled a career-high 25 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead the Holy Cross men’s basketball team to a 77-70 victory over Lafayette at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders improve to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League with the win, while Leopards fall to 4-11 on the season and 1-3 in the conference.

Holy Cross made 55.6 percent of its field goal attempts and 57.1 percent of its three-pointers on the afternoon, in addition to holding a 33-26 rebounding advantage and committing just seven turnovers. Lafayette made 53.6 percent of its attempts from beyond the arc and 47.4 percent of its shots from the floor overall.

The Crusaders began the game with a quick 7-0 run and were later up 23-15 with seven minutes left before the break. The Leopards used back-to-back three-pointers to close to within two points, but Holy Cross responded with a 9-2 spurt to go back up by nine. The Crusaders eventually held a 40-30 advantage heading into the locker room at halftime.

Holy Cross was still up by 10 (49-39) with 14 minutes left in regulation, before scoring eight straight points to take a commanding 57-39 lead. The Crusaders maintained a double-digit lead for the next several minutes and were later up 73-59 with less than a minute to play. Lafayette then scored 11 points in the game’s final 45 seconds to make the final score look respectable.

Sophomore forward Jacob Grandison finished the day with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guard Caleb Green added 15 points and three assists, while sophomore guard Austin Butler tallied 10 points and six rebounds. Justin Jaworski led the Leopards with 23 points.

The Crusaders will return to action on Monday, Jan. 14, when they travel to Bucknell for a 7:00 p.m. game on the CBS Sports Network.

• Holy Cross is now tied for third place in the Patriot League, just one game behind Bucknell and Lehigh (3-1).
• Floyd hit 11 of 13 field goal attempts on the afternoon, and has now made 69.2 percent of his shots this season (81 of 117)
• The Crusaders’ +7 rebound margin was their largest in a single-game this season.
• The home team has won nine consecutive games in the Holy Cross-Lafayette series.
