Women's Track and Field Kicks Off 2018-19 at BU
BOSTON, Mass. -- The Holy Cross women’s track and field team kicked off the 2018-19 indoor season at the Boston University Season Opener on Saturday, December 1.
Sophomore Christa Jay Moore highlighted the day with a victory in the pole vault, with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 3.80 meters.
Sophomore Abbie Mokwuah also posted an ECAC mark in the shot put, finishing fourth with a mark of 13.82 meters. She was also fourth in the weight throw, with a New England-qualifying mark of 16.19 meters.
Sophomore Marina MacKinnon was fourth overall in the 1,000 meters, posting a time of 3:03.99.
Senior Sarah Friess placed seventh in the 60 meter dash with a New England-qualifying time of 7.88 seconds.
Junior Taylor Gensler finished seventh in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles, posting a New England-qualifying time of 9.17 seconds. Junior Morgan Sanders was 12th in the prelims, also with a New England-qualifying mark of 9.25 seconds. Gensler also finished seventh in the triple jump, with a leap of 11.09 meters.
Freshman Kelsey O’Hara finished in seventh place in the 600 meter run, posting a time of 1:38.18. Junior Caroline Frey was seventh in the 400 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 59.39 seconds.
Holy Cross also had a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay, clocking in at 3:56.87.
The Crusaders return to action next weekend at the URI Pentathlon on December 7, followed by the Howlin’ Husky Invitational on December 8.
