Women's Hockey Defeated By No. 8 Northeastern

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s hockey was defeated by Northeastern, 6-1, on Nov. 2 at the Hart Center. Carlie Magier scored her second of the season and Julia Pelletier recorded 46 saves in the game. Holy Cross moves to 0-8-1 and 0-5-0 in Hockey East play while Northeastern improves to 8-1-1 and 7-0-1 in Hockey East.


Northeastern took the lead just before the midway point of the first period on the power play. Holy Cross responded to even the game, 1-1, with just under two minutes to play in the first. Carly Magier backhanded the puck for her second of the season.

In the second period, Northeastern took back the lead with five minutes left in the period. Julia Pelletier turned aside 16 shots in the middle frame.

In the third period, Northeastern scored two goals in 13 seconds to take a 4-1 lead. The Huskies tallied a goal with under four minutes to play on the power play to push the game to 5-1 and added another with just 20 seconds remaining in the game.



1-0 NU (1st – 7:47): On the power play, Northeastern’s Matti Hartman lifted in a rebound on the far post after Andrea Renner tallied a shot that Julia Pelletier turned aside.

1-1 HC (1st – 18:19): After Skye Ziehwein worked the puck out of the defensive zone and to Carlie Magier along the boards in the neutral zone. Magier rushed the puck into the offensive zone, creating a two-on-one but held onto it as she backhanded the puck home.

2-1 NU (2nd – 14:39): After two rebounds in front of the goal, Northeastern’s Renner wristed in a shot to an open net.

3-1 NU (3rd – 9:08): Tessa Ward tipped in a point shot right in front of Pelletier.

4-1 NU (3rd – 9:21): After some quick passing, Northeastern’s Alina Mueller scored from the slot

5-1 NU (3rd – 16:55): On the power play, Northeastern moved the puck across the zone from the point to Chloe Aurard wide open on the back door for a quick wrist shot goal.

6-1 NU (3rd – 19:39): Kassidy Anderson fired a shot from the goal line that deflected in.




The Crusaders travel to Maine for a 2:00 p.m. game in Orono on Nov. 4.
