Shamley's Double-Double Paces Crusaders to Second-Straight Victory Saturday on Road
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman Johnna Shamley posted a double-double with a match-best 10 kills and 15 digs to lead the Holy Cross volleyball team to a 3-1 road win over Bucknell Saturday evening.
The Crusaders (6-19, 5-7 Patriot League) looked strong out of the gates, winning the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-21, before stumbling in the third, 25-11. But the visitors came back and made a statement in the fourth, wrapping up their second-straight victory with a 25-13 win in the fourth stanza.
Rookie Regan Wright added eight kills and three blocks with a pair of aces, while Katie Kerins served up three aces to compliment a quartet of blocks and eight kills of her own. Clare Honan (6 kills) paced the team at the net, getting credit in five of the team’s nine
Bucknell (6-17, 1-11) saw a double-double performance from Alexa Bonanno (25 assists, 11 digs), while Bridgette Holland matched Shamley’s 10-kill effort. Sophie Bullard picked up 20 digs.
- Saturday’s outing marked the fifth double-double performance of the year for Shamley and second in as many days.
- VanSeveren eclipsed the 20-dig mark for the fifth time this season and first since early September.
