Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision at Colgate
HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Holy Cross volleyball team fell at Coalgate in three sets as Katie Kerins led the Crusaders with seven kills and Regan Wright added eight digs. The Crusaders fall to 4-19 and 3-7 in Patriot League play while Colgate moves to 11-11 and 6-4 in league action.
In the opening set, the Crusaders narrowly fell by a score of 25-21 and Wright recorded one kill and four digs as Kathleen Philo posted a set-leading five digs. The score was even through the first 12 points. Holy Cross took a 15-12 lead and then an 18-15 lead, but Colgate rattled off a 10-3 run to close the set.
The Crusaders started the second set with a 3-1 lead but relinquished the lead as the Raiders went on a seven point lead. Johnna Shamley posted four kills and dive digs in the set to lead Holy Cross. Colgate took the second set, 25-14.
The third set went to Colgate, 25-16. Sophie VanSeveren led with five digs. The Raiders jumped out to a 7-3 lead, forcing the Crusaders to call a timeout. Holy Cross narrowed the lead to 9-6 but could not close the gap.
The Crusaders are back in action on Oct. 26 at Lehigh for a 7:00 p.m. match.
