Holy Cross responded in the 42nd minute when Simon Becher sent home his first career goal to even the score at 1-1 before the half. Garrett Leahy moved the ball forward into Eagle territory and took a shot that was deflected by the Eagle defense and right to the foot of Becher. The freshman forward quickly sent the ball into the net on the short side.

The game was forced into overtime and Boston College tallied six shots in each overtime frame. The Crusaders did not record a shot. The final shot tally was 32-7 in favor of the Eagles. Stutz posted a season-high 11 saves to keep the game knotted.

  • Holy Cross had six corner kick advantages and Boston College had 10.

COACH KOOLMAN ON THE GAME:

“Overall, it was a good team effort and the result was disciplined on both sides of the ball. Our character and discipline paid off with the result. In the next phase we have to start our belief that we can hold the ball and generate attack. It was a very good team effort on the road against a very good Boston College team.”

The Crusaders return Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium to take on the Hartford Hawks on Sept. 15 at 7:05 p.m.
