James Albanese is in his second season with the Crusaders in 2019-2020. He comes to Holy Cross after serving as an undergraduate assistant on the field hockey team at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst for the past three years. He participated in daily practices by setting up drills and playing with the team. Albanese’s other duties included warming up goalies, filming practices and games, and coding game film. Over his three seasons with the team, UMass posted a 39-25 record and won two Atlantic 10 Championships. Albanese has both a Level 1 Field Hockey Coach and Level 1 Field Hockey Umpire certification issued by USA Field Hockey.

Albanese is a 2018 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he received a bachelor’s degree in geology. Before becoming an assistant on the field hockey team, he was a member of the UMass Swimming and Diving team as a freshman.
