WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week in women's cross country, for competition from September 15-21. Sutherland helped lead Holy Cross to a sixth place finish out of 35 schools at the National Catholic Championship, held in Notre Dame, Ind., on Friday, Sept. 19.
At the National Catholic Championship, Sutherland had the best time on the team, and placed 16th overall in the field of 287 runners. In just the second meet of her collegiate career, she finished the five-kilometer course in a time of 18:38. Earlier this season, Sutherland placed second at the Blue Devil Invitational, where she also had the fastest time on the team.
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, when it takes part in the Murray Keatinge Invitational, in Orono, Maine.
