WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Bronx, N.Y. on Saturday, Nov. 15. Freshman Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) led the women's team for the second consecutive race, while junior Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) was the top finisher for the men's team.
Sutherland completed the 6K race in 23:35.2 to finish in 93rd place. Holy Cross's top five scoring group also included freshman Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.) with a time of 23:48.2, senior Colleen Spilka (Hamden, Conn.) 23:56.1, senior Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.) 24:06.5 and sophomore Jacqueline Imse (Simsbury, Conn.) 24:14.2.
For the men's team, Rougeot completed the 10K race 109th overall with a time of 34:42.1. Finishing in the 35th minute for the Crusaders was senior Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.) 35:21.6, junior Tim Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) 35:44.9 and freshman Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) 35:46.3. Freshman Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) rounded out the top five scoring group for the Crusaders with a time of 36:00.6.
The Crusaders will complete the 2008 season on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Bronx, N.Y. The men's team will compete in the IC4A Championship at 9:30 a.m. and the women's team will race in the ECAC Championship also at 9:30 a.m.
