NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Select members of the men's and women's cross country teams raced at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning as the women's team finished ninth of 29 teams while the men took 10th of 28 squads. Sophomore Cassie Gildea (Milford, Conn.) led the women's team with a 13th place finish of 207 runners with a time of 19:07.90. For the men, freshman Patrick Franco (Winchester, Mass.) was the top Crusader finisher, taking 47th of 210 runners with a time of 27:31.
Other top finishers on the women's side included sophomore Katie Holdridge (Preston, Conn.) who crossed the finish line in 28th place with a time of 19:37.11. Freshman Kara McCormack (Bolton, Mass.) finished just behind Holdridge in 35th place at 19:50.38. Fellow classmates Anne Mullican (Terre Haute, Ind.) and Brittany Reeves (Reading, Mass.) rounded out the Holy Cross runners who finished in the top half of the field, taking 98th (21:16.29) and 100th (21:18.28), respectively.
On the men's side, junior Joseph Seebode (Clark, N.J.) finished behind Franco with a time of 27:44 and 56th place finish. Sophomore Chris Conley (Walpole, Mass.) and fellow classmate Joe Murphy (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) finished back-to-back in 66th and 67th place with matching times of 28:09. Sophomore Brendan Butler (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Michael Andre (Feeding Hills, Mass.) rounded out the Crusader runners who finished in the top half of the field, crossing the finish line in 93rd (28:43) and 104th (29:00), respectively.
The Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Paul Short Invitational beginning at 10:00 a.m.
