HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Holy Cross women's cross country team returned to Colgate's Harry H. Lang Cross Country Course for the second time this season for its first race in just under three weeks on Saturday morning, finishing tied for sixth at the Patriot League Championship with 168 points. Junior Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) led the Crusaders with a 17th place finish and time of 23:36.6 on the 6K course. Navy won the team title with 46 points as Annie-Norah Beveridge finished first overall with a time of 21:45.4 and Bridid Byrne finished second at 22:04.9 for the Mids.
Junior Sandra van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) finished behind Hughes in 35th place with a time of 24:20.8 while fellow classmate Amanda Waldron (Walpole, Mass.) took 46th, crossing the finish line 24:41.8. Freshman Caroline Carley (Barrington, Ill.) was the top rookie finisher for Holy Cross, finishing 50th at 24:54.1 and sophomore Abigail Mitchell (Manchester, N.H.) rounded out the top-five for the Crusaders with a time of 25:15.0 and 54th place finish.
Select members of the women's cross country team will return to action in just under two weeks, competing at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Madison, Conn. on Nov. 9 at 11:00 a.m. The final meet of the season is scheduled for Nov. 17 at the ECAC Championship in Bronx, N.Y. at 9:30 a.m.
