Women's Cross Country To Compete At New England Championship

  • The Holy Cross women's cross country team will return to action this Sunday, Oct. 7, at the New England Championship at 12:00 p.m.
  • Last season, the Crusaders finished seventh of 39 teams at the New England Championship. Graduate Paige Sutherland finished seventh overall to lead the Crusaders. Junior Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) finished 44th with a time of 18:47. Fellow classmates Sandra van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) and Amanda Waldron (Walpole, Mass.) were also top finishers for the Crusaders.
  • The Crusaders are coming off the Paul Short Invitational where the team competed in the "gold" level race for the first time. Three members of the team improved their  times from the 2011 race, including Hughes who bettered her time by 23 seconds, Waldron who improved by 48 seconds and sophomore Abigail Mitchell (Manchester, N.H.) who cross the finish line 2:09 faster than the previous season.
