Women's Cross Country To Race In Two Events This Weekend

  • The Holy Cross men's cross country team returns to action for its second meet of the season on Friday, Sept. 14, at the National Catholic Championship hosted by Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. Select members of the team will also run on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational beginning at 10:30 a.m.
  • Last season, the Crusaders finished seventh of 33 teams at the National Catholic Invitational. Graduate Paige Sutherland earned the top finish for Holy Cross, taking 24th place with a time of 18:17.4. Junior Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) finished behind Hughes with a time of 18:32.1. Dating back to 2004, the Crusaders have finished in the top-10 each season, with their best finish coming in 2009, taking fourth of 31 teams.
  • This will be the fifth straight season Holy Cross will run in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The Crusaders' best finishes came in the 2008 and 2011 season, taking eighth place as a team.
  • Holy Cross began the 2012 season at the Harry Lang Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y. The course will also host the Patriot League Championship on Oct. 27. Hughes led the team with a time of 16:49.0.
