BUFFALO, N.Y. – Sophomore Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) finished 86th overall to lead the Holy Cross women's cross country team to a 19th place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional Saturday afternoon. Syracuse won the 36 team competition, while Dartmouth's Abbey D'Agostino finished the 6000 meter course first overall with a time of 20:25.3.
Hughes finished with a time of 22:42.8 to claimed 86th place overall and lead the Crusaders. Sophomore Amanda Waldron (Walpole, Mass.) was the second Crusader to finish, placing 116th with a time of 23:13.9. Senior Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) finished 124th with a time of 23:21.3, senior Sarah Mellea North (Arlington, N.J.) finished 135th with a time of 23:31.9 and sophomore Sandra van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) was Holy Cross' final point scorer, finishing in 147th with a time of 23:43.3.
Holy Cross wraps up the 2011 season next weekend, Nov. 19, at the ECAC Championship in Bronx, N.Y.
