BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) placed 13th to lead the Holy Cross women's cross country team to a 5th place finish at the Paul Short Invitational Brown Race on Friday afternoon. Iona took home the team title with 125 points, while the Crusaders finished 5th with 195.
Sutherland finished in 13th place with a time of 22:20 in the 6k race. Sophomore Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) was the second Crusader to cross the line, finishing in 21st place with a time of 22:45. Sophomore Sandra van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) placed 36th with a time of 23:05, sophomore Amanda Waldron (Walpole, Mass.) finished 62nd with a time of 23:25, senior Sarah Mellea (North Arlington, N.J.) finished 63rd with a time of 23:27, senior Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.) finished 186th with a time of 24:39 and freshman Abigail Mitchell (Manchester, N.H.) rounded out the Holy Cross competitors with a 264th place finish in a time of 26:05.
The next race for Holy Cross will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8 when the Crusaders compete at the New England Championship.
