Women's Cross Country Places Seventh At National Catholic Championship
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Senior Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) finished in 24th place overall with a time of 18:17.4, as the Holy Cross women's cross country team claimed seventh place at the 2011 National Catholic Championship. The Crusaders finished with 206 points as a team, as Notre Dame won the title with 22 points. Notre Dame's Jessica Rydberg was the top individual finisher with a time of 17:16.0.
Holy Cross' top finishers after Sutherland were sophomore Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) in 31st place (18:32.1), senior Sarah Mellea (North Arlington, N.J.) in 36th place (18:38.5) and sophomore Sandra van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) in 52nd place (18:51.2).
The Crusaders return to action tomorrow, Sept. 17, when they take part in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
