Holy Cross Runs At Bryant Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams opened took part in the Bryant Invitational on Saturday. In a non-scoring meet for the teams, freshman Abigail Mitchell (Manchester, N.H.) led the women by placing 52nd in a time of 20:30.21, while freshmen Matt Muilenburg (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) came in 70th in a time of 17:31.68 to lead the men.

Following Mitchell, top Holy Cross finishers on the women's side included sophomore Liz Crowley (Southborough, Mass.) in 57th place (20:48.83), sophomore Vicki Tiedemann (Bay Shore, N.Y.) in 60th place (21:03.08) and sophomore Beth Fullerton (Bradford, Mass.) in 63rd place (21;11.94).

For the men, the top Crusaders following Muilenburg were freshman Joseph Seebode (Clark, N.J.) in 71st place (17:32.84), freshman Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) in 72nd place (17:34.36) and sophomore Jeff Dykes (Sudbury, Mass.) in 81st place (18:06.36).

The Holy Cross men and women will both be back in action next weekend with a pair of meets. The National Catholic Championship will take place on Friday, Sept. 16, in Notre Dame, Ind., and the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, in North Dartmouth, Mass.
