BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) placed 20th out of 322 finishers to lead the Holy Cross women's cross country team at the New England Championship in Boston, Mass. Saturday afternoon. Boston College won the team title, finishing in first with 26 points, while the Crusaders finished 16th out of 47 teams competing. Maine's Corey Conner led the field with a time of 16:54.
Sutherland led the Crusaders with a 20th place finish and time of 18:14. Sophomore Lizzie Harkins (Latrobe, Pa.) finished 92nd overall with a time of 19:11, freshman Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) placed 96th with a time of 19:13 and junior Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.) placed 112th with a time of 19:24. Freshman Sandra van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) finished out Holy Cross' top five with an 118th place finish and time of 19:29.
Holy Cross will continue competition next week, Oct. 16, at the Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette in Easton, Pa.
