Crusaders Conclude 2009 Season

  • The Holy Cross women's cross country team concluded the 2009 season at the ECAC Championship at Van Cortland Park in Bronx, N.Y. on Saturday, Nov. 21. Holy Cross finished 12th out of 20 teams while Marist took home the team title.
  • Sophomore Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) led the Crusaders in the 5K run with a 6th place finish with a time of 18:02. Southerland's finish was eight places higher and over a minute faster than her performance at last year's ECAC Championship. Southerland was the top finisher in all seven races that she entered this year and has been the top Holy Cross performer in 13 career races.
  • At the ECAC Championship, freshman Lizzie Harkins (Latrobe, Pa.) led the rookies with a 62nd place finish with a time of 19:38.6. It was the seventh time in seven races this season that Harkins has been the top freshman performer for Holy Cross. Freshmen Stephanie Bray (Fairfax, Va.) and Caiti Derenze (Jamesport, N.Y.) each were a top rookie for Holy Cross in a meet this season. Bray led the class at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational while Derenze topped all freshman at the Central Connecticut Mini Meet.
  • Senior captain Meghan Dunne (Mendham, N.J.) took home two top team performances this season. Dunne was the top Crusader at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational and at the Central Connecticut Mini Meet.
