WORCESTER, Mass. -
Holy Cross sophomore women's cross country runner Paige
Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) has been named first team
All-Patriot League, as announced by the conference. Sutherland is
the eighth runner to earn that honor in program history and
the first since 1998.
Sutherland has been the top Holy Cross performer in all five races which she has participated in this season and in 11 of 12 races in her career. On Saturday at the Patriot League Championship in Hamilton, N.Y., she finished second with a time of 22:54.6, leading Holy Cross to fifth place overall. It was the team's best finish in the conference championship since 2001, when Holy Cross tied for third. In addition, Sutherland's second-place finish tied the highest individual placement for a Crusader women's cross country runner at the Patriot League Championship. Nancy Sullivan finished second for Holy Cross in 1990.
The Crusaders continue the season at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Bronx, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 14. The competition is slated to start at 10:00 a.m.
