NEW BRITAIN, Conn.
- Senior co-captain Meghan Dunne (Mendham, N.J.)
finished the 3k course in 11:08.76 as the Holy Cross women's cross
country team took seventh at the Central Connecticut Mini Meet in
New Britain, Conn. on Saturday.
Dunne finished in 27th place in the team competition and 34th overall. Freshman Caiti Derenze (Jamesport, N.Y.) was second across the line for Holy Cross, taking 38th in the team portion of the meet and 48th individually with a time of 11:26.12. Next for the Crusaders was freshman Katherine Rochford (Red Bank, N.J.), who took 57th overall with a time of 11:38.57, followed by junior Kathleen Kasper (Worcester, Mass.), who finished the 3k in a 64th-place time of 11:48.49. Junior Alison Fimognari (Wilbraham, Mass.) crossed the line in 73rd overall (12:03.83), with junior Martha Quinn (Frankfurt, Germany) following close behind in 76th (12:14.80). Senior Ariana Coniglio (Revere, Mass.) finished in 85th place overall in 12:43.28.
Freshman Meghan Reilly (Providence, R.I.), senior Carrie Kinsella (Guilford, Conn.) and sophomore Meghan Quirk (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also ran for Holy Cross but their times did not count in the team competition. Reilly finished in 12:44.83 with Kinsella right behind at 12:46.68 and Quirk at 12:50.65.
Quinnipiac finished in first place and won the team portion of the competition with 32 points. Brown took second with 42 points, followed by Connecticut in third (83 points) and Rhode Island (128). Host Central Connecticut completed the top five with 135 points.
The Crusaders are next in action Saturday, Oct. 31 when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y. for the Patriot League Championship. The meet is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
