Cross Country Runs Away With Patriot League Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams swept the four Runner of the Week awards. Senior Tim Richard (Attleboro, Mass.), sophomore Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) and rookies Kevin Turner (Charlton, Mass.) and Elizabeth Harkins (Latrobe, Pa.) were honored for their performance at the New England Championship on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Richard was named Patriot League Runner of the Week for his team leading 62nd place finish with time of 25:50. His performance was his third top team finish of the season. This is the second time in his career that Richard has been honored by the Patriot League.
Sutherland was named Patriot League Runner of the Week for her team leading sixth place finish with a time of 18:12. Sutherland has been the top Holy Cross performer in eight consecutive races, including four this season. This is the second Patriot League honor this season for Sutherland and fifth of her career.
Turner earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week as the top Holy Cross rookie. He was the fourth Crusader to cross the line with a time of 26:43. This is the first Patriot League honor for Turner.
Harkins was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for her performance. She was the seventh Crusader to cross the line with a time of 20:03. This is her first Patriot League honor.
The Crusaders will take a week off before traveling to the Central Connecticut Mini Meet on Oct. 24. The race is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
