Crusaders Take Time Off, Prepare For Mini Meet

  • The Holy Cross women's cross country team has a week off before the Central Connecticut Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn., on Saturday, Oct. 24. The day's events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
  • For the fourth time in four races this season, sophomore Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) was the top Crusader performer at the New England Championship. She finished in sixth place with a time of 18:12. She improved over her time from last year's event by 29 seconds and moved up 32 places. Junior Jacqueline Imse (Simsbury, Conn.) crossed the line second for Holy Cross, finishing in 79th place in 19:14. Senior co-captain Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.) (19:27, 101st), sophomore Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.) (19:37, 114th) and sophomore Sarah Mellea (North Arlington, N.J.) (19:42, 119th) rounded out the top five for the Crusaders.
  • Freshman Elizabeth Harkins (Latrobe, Pa.) made her first appearance at the New England Championship. She finished in 166th with a time of 20:03.
  • After the week off, the Crusaders wrap up the season with four events in five weeks. After the Central Connecticut Mini Meet, there is the Patriot League Championship (Oct. 31), the NCAA Northeast Regional (Nov. 14) and the ECAC Championship (Nov. 21).
