Holy Cross' Paige Sutherland Named Patriot League Runner Of The Week

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross sophomore Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) was named the Patriot League Runner of the Week for her performance the week of Sept. 7-13. She competed in the Blue Devil Invitational in New Britain, Conn., Sept. 12 where she posted a career-best 18:06.01 in the 5k race and finished first. Her performance led the Crusaders to a second-place finish overall in the competition.

She completed the race 37 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor and also eclipsed her time in last year's event, when she ran in 18:48. She has now been the top Holy Cross finisher in seven of the eight races in which she's competed and it is also the fourth weekly Patriot League award of her career. Last season she was named Rookie of the Week twice and Runner of the Week once.

The Crusaders return to action this weekend. On Friday, Sept. 18 some runners will participate in the National Catholic Championship in Notre Dame, Ind. beginning at 3:30 p.m. Others will run at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19 in Dartmouth, Mass. at 10:30 a.m.
