  • The Holy Cross women's cross country team continues the 2009 season with two events this weekend. On Friday, Sept. 18 some members of the team will participate in the National Catholic Championship in Notre Dame, Ind. The competition is set to start at 3:30 p.m. Others will travel to Dartmouth, Mass. for the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19. That meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
  • After a successful 2008 campaign in which she was the top Holy Cross performer in six of the seven races in which she competed, sophomore Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) has picked up right where she left off. She finished first at the Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday with a time of 18:06.01, 36 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. She topped her performance from last year's event, in which she ran the 5k in 18:48 and finished second.
  • Junior Jacqueline Imse's (Simsbury, Conn.) performance also paced the Crusaders to their second-place finish on Saturday. She ran the 5k in 18:51.80, almost a full six seconds ahead of her previous career record. Her sixth-place finish was also second-best amongst Holy Cross runners, and she ran over a minute better in this year's Blue Devil Invitational than she did in last year's event.
  • Holy Cross was predicted to finish sixth in the Patriot League this season, and if they are to eclipse those expectations, they will need contributions from freshman like Elizabeth Harkins (Latrobe, Pa.). In the first race of her college career, she finished eighth overall (third amongst Crusader runners) with a time of 18:56.85.
