Holy Cross Women's Cross Country Selected Sixth in Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's cross country team has been selected to finish sixth in the 2009 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by conference coaches and sports information directors from around the league, it was announced today. Defending champion Navy finished first in the poll with 97 points and 13 first-place votes, followed by Bucknell in second with 87 points and 3 first-place votes. Lehigh garnered 67 points for third, trailed by Army in fourth (58 points). Colgate received 41 points, narrowly edging out Holy Cross (sixth place, 40 points) for fifth place. American (seventh place, 38 points) and Lafayette (eighth place, 18 points) round out the poll.

The Crusaders feature 12 returnees and welcome nine incoming freshman to the 2009 squad. Holy Cross opens its season Saturday, Sept. 12 when it travels to Central Connecticut to take part in the Blue Devil Invitational. The meet begins at 10:00 a.m.
