Women's Cross Country Announces 2009 Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross Richard L. Ahern '51 Director of Cross Country, Track and Field Jim Kavanagh has named seniors Sarah Croteau (Westminster, Mass.), Meghan Dunne (Mendham, N.J.) and Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.) as captains for the 2009 cross country season.

Last season, Croteau ran a time of 19:09.38 at the Murray Keatinge Invite, placed 14th at the Blue Devil Invitational (19:35), ran a time of 19:18 at the National Catholic Championship and a time of 20:25 at the New England Championship.

Dunne was named to the 2008 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, placed 38th overall at the Blue Devil Invitational (21:27), ran a time of 19:50 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, ran at the Murray Keatinge Invitational (20:49.27), New England Championship (20:57), Patriot League Championship (24:26) and ECAC Championship (21:13).

Luke was named to the 2008 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. She placed 16th at the Blue Devil Invitational with a time of 19:40, ran at the National Catholic Championship (19:55), finished sixth on the team and 47th at the Murray Keatinge Invitational (19:19.94), ran at the New England Championship (19:27), Patriot League Championship (23:48.9), NCAA Northeast Regional (25:21.6) and ECAC Championship (19:56).

The women's cross country team returns 19 from last season's squad.
