Holy Cross Volleyball Names 2008 Team Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball program has named senior Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) and junior Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) as 2008 team co-captains.

This marks the second straight year that Anderson will be a co-captain for the Crusaders. She has played in every match and every game that the Crusaders have played during the last three years, while she enters the year ranked fifth on the school's all-time career digs list with 900. Anderson is coming off a spectacular junior season as the libero in which her 3.72 digs per game ranked third on the Holy Cross all-time single-season list and her 350 digs ranked fifth. She was also fourth in the Patriot League in digs per game.

Surface enters her junior year with 276 kills, 137 digs and 48 total blocks. Last year, she ranked third on the team with 187 kills and 30 total blocks. Surface also had 96 digs and nine service aces. As a freshman in 2006, she ranked fourth on the team in kills with 89 and tied for fourth in total blocks with 18, while she also had 41 digs and 14 assists.

The Crusaders are set to kick off the 2008 season when they play at Providence on Wednesday, September 3, at 7:00 p.m. Holy Cross returns eight players including three starters. The Crusaders also welcome six newcomers to the program.
