WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head volleyball coach Chris Ridolfi have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2007 season. Holy Cross is scheduled to play a total of 28 matches this season, including 12 home contests at the Holy Cross Field House.
The Crusaders will open the season on Aug. 24, when they host St. Peter's, followed by a road match at Providence on Aug. 25. Holy Cross will take part in the first of three regular season tournaments when it faces Boston College, Northeastern, New Hampshire and Sacred Heart at the Boston College/Northeastern Tournament (Aug. 30-Sept. 1). The Crusaders then play at Central Connecticut on Sept. 5.
Holy Cross will then host Coppin State, Loyola and Hartford for the Crusader Classic on Sept. 7-8. The Crusaders will host Providence on Sept. 12, while they will then compete at the New Hampshire Tournament (Sept. 14-15) against New Hampshire, Southern Methodist and Syracuse.
Holy Cross will face only Patriot League foes for the remainder of the season, beginning at home against American (Sept. 19), Navy (Sept. 22) and Army (Sept. 29). The Crusaders will then hit the road for the entire month of October as they will take on Lehigh (Oct. 5), Lafayette (Oct. 6), Bucknell (Oct. 12), Colgate (Oct. 13), Navy (Oct. 19), American (Oct. 20) and Army (Oct. 27). Holy Cross will conclude the regular season with four straight home matches against Lafayette (Nov. 2), Lehigh (Nov. 3), Colgate (Nov. 10) and Bucknell (Nov. 11).
The Patriot League Tournament is set for Nov. 16-17, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will take part in the tournament.
The 2007 Crusaders return nine players from last year's team.
