Holy Cross victorious over Colgate

Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team was defeated Colgate in four game, (30-23. 27-30, 19-30, 30-25), Saturday afternoon at the Hart Recreation Center.

The Crusaders were led by senior Caitlin Agostinacchio (Bellmore, N.Y.), who tallied a double-double, her seventh of the season, posting 20 kills and 10 digs.

Senior Michelle Leahy (Andover, Mass.) had an excellent night, putting up 36 assists, hitting 15 digs. The setter was perfect in attacks, going 4-for-4.

Sophomore Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) recorded a team-high 18 digs.

Three Raiders registered double-digits in kills, including Laurel Oliver, who tallied 17 kills, Erin Kanetzke, who totaled 11 and Sheila Giovannini, who hit 13 kills. Meghaan Walsh recorded 19 digs, while Allie Nichols accumulated 51 assists.

With the win Holy Cross improves to 4-15 overall and 3-4 in the Patriot League, while the Raiders fall to 4-13 overall and 1-6 in the Patriot League.

The Crusaders next game is slated for Saturday, Oct. 23 against Army at 4 p.m., in West Point, N.Y. Holy Cross returns to the Hart Recreation Center for one last homestand, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 29-30. On Friday, the Crusaders take on American at 7 p.m. , followed by Navy for Senior Night on Saturday at 7 p.m.
