BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Junior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 15 kills and 17 digs as the Holy Cross volleyball team defeated Lehigh, 3-0, by scores of 30-28, 30-23 and 32-30, on Saturday night in the last match of the year for the Crusaders. With the win, the Crusaders finish the season with a 5-20 overall record and a 3-11 Patriot League mark, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 0-29 overall (0-14 Patriot League). Strawson's 4.17 kills per game this season ties the Holy Cross single season record with Caitlin Agostinacchio who set the record in 2004. Her 363 kills are the second highest in school history, surpassing her 351 kills of a year ago.
Senior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) had 35 assists on the night giving her 840 on the season which are third all-time in a single season at Holy Cross, while her 9.55 assists per game rank second. For her career Fanning is ranked third all-time with 1,657 assists.
Senior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) registered nine digs in the match as she ends her career with 1,182 digs which are third all-time at Holy Cross. This season she led the team in digs with 324 and her 3.68 digs per game are ranked fourth in a single-season at Holy Cross.
Lehigh was led by Michelle Schwendenmann's 20 kills and 17 digs, while Sarah Wolfe had 43 assists. Cassidy Maumus led all players with 19 digs. Brittany Thurston had a solid match with 15 kills and 15 digs.
