WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) led the Crusaders with 49 assists as the Holy Cross volleyball team defeated Lehigh, 3-1, by scores of 30-25, 27-30, 30-27 and 32-30, Friday night at the Hart Center. With the win, the Crusaders improve to 3-14 overall (1-5 Patriot League), while the Mountain Hawks fall to 0-20 (0-6 Patriot League). Fanning's performance moved her into fourth all-time in career assists at Holy Cross with 1,416.
Holy Cross had a strong team performance as junior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) tied her season-high with 24 kills and freshman Liz Auger (Barnstable, Mass.) added 13 kills in the win. Strawson is just one kill shy of being third on the all-time career list for kills at Holy Cross and has now recorded double-digit kills in 15 out of 17 matches this season. Senior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) and sophomore Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) led the defense with 21 and 12 digs, respectively.
The Mountain Hawks were led by freshman Sarah Wolfe's 49 assists and senior Michelle Schwendenmann 17 kills.
The Crusaders return to action tomorrow, when they host Lafayette in Patriot League action at 4:00 p.m.
