WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Colgate, 3-1, by scores of 28-30, 30-15, 30-25 and 30-27, in Patriot league action this afternoon at the Hart Center. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-12 overall and 0-3 in the Patriot League, while the Raiders improve to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League.
Senior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 49 assists and 11 digs, while junior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) had double-digit kills for the 13th time this season with 15. Freshman Liz Auger (Barnstable, Mass.) tallied 14 kills as she has registered double-digit kills in four of the last five matches. Senior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) was outstanding defensively with 17 digs, while junior Katie Fitzpatrick (Queensbury, N.Y.) added 11 digs.
The Raiders were led by Katrina Zawojski's 23 kills and Meghan Fanta's 46 assists. Marybeth Maziarz added 10 kills, while Erin Kanetzke was strong at the net with 11 total blocks.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday, September 29, when they travel to Washington, D.C., to face Patriot League opponent American at 7:00 p.m.
