WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Bucknell, 3-0, by scores of 30-25, 30-24 and 30-21, Friday night at the Hart Center. The Crusaders were led by junior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) with 12 kills and senior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) had 35 assists. This was Strawson's 12th match of the season posting double-digit kills. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-11 overall (0-2 Patriot League), while the Bison improve to 9-6 (1-0 Patriot League).
Senior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas), junior Katie Fitzpatrick (Queensbury, N.Y.), and sophomore Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) each recorded double-digit digs for the defense, while freshman Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) added nine kills.
Senior Sarah Groman recorded 13 kills and sophomore Shannon Pitsch had 43 assists, while senior Jennie Smith had five blocks to lead the Bison to their first Patriot League win of the season.
The Crusaders return to action tomorrow, when they host Colgate in Patriot League action at 4:00 p.m.
