WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Providence, 3-0, by scores of 27-25, 25-19 and 25-23, on the first day of the Crusader Classic at the Holy Cross Field House on Friday night. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-7, while the Friars improve to 5-4. Holy Cross will continue play in the Crusader Classic on Saturday, when it meets Wagner at 1:00 p.m. and Bryant at 7:00 p.m.
Junior co-captain Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) had 10 kills to lead the Crusaders, while junior Liz Auger (Barnstable, Mass.) and freshman Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) each recorded five kills. Sophomore libero Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) was strong on defense with 14 digs, while sophomore setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 26 assists.
The Friars were led by Elizabeth Flynn's 16 kills and Sara Sheehan's 29 assists. Kelly Krahenbuhl was impressive defensively with 20 digs.
