WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Hartford, 3-0, by scores of 30-24, 30-24 and 30-26, as the Crusaders wrapped up play at the Hartford Invitational. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-3 overall, while the Hawks improve to 3-1 overall as they went a perfect 3-0 to win the tournament. Junior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) led the Crusaders with 15 kills and eight digs as she was named to the all-tournament team for her 49 kills and 31 digs in three matches.
Senior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) led the team in digs with 16 giving her 50 for the weekend and 908 for her career. She now is third all-time at Holy Cross in career digs. Senior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) recorded 27 assists in the match.
Hartford's Jennifer Monroy led the offense with 14 kills, while Sarah Rasor had 42 assists. Monroy was named the MVP of the tournament.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, September 5, when they host Quinnipiac at the Hart Center at 7:00 p.m.
