WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army's Margaux Jarka totaled 15 kills and seven digs, to lead the Black Knights to a 3-0 victory over the Holy Cross volleyball team at Gillis Field House, by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-10. The Crusaders fall to 7-13 overall and 2-6 in the Patriot League with the loss, while Army improves to 10-8 on the season and 7-1 in the conference.
Sophomore outside hitter Emily Oliver (Carlsbad, Calif.) led Holy Cross with seven kills and two solo blocks, while freshman setter Katie McKernan (Sylvania, Ohio) added 17 assists, five kills and six digs.
The opening set was tied at 6-6, before the Black Knights won six of the next seven points to claim a 12-7 lead. After the Crusaders took the next two points, Army claimed six points in a row to lead 18-9, before eventually taking the set 25-15. The second set was tied at 10-10, when Holy Cross used an 11-6 run to claim a 21-16 lead. The Crusaders were still up by three (22-19), before the Black Knights closed out the set by winning six straight points. Army then cruised to a 25-10 win in the final set.
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, when it plays host to Army at 4:00 p.m.
