Volleyball Announces 2013 Schedule

2013 Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. – Athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and third-year head volleyball coach Erin Cady have announced the 2013 Holy Cross volleyball schedule. The Crusaders are scheduled to play 29 regular season matches this year including 13 home matches at the Holy Cross Field House.

The Crusaders begin the season hosting a home tournament on (Aug. 30-31) where they will face off against Sacred Heart (Aug. 30), Stony Brook (Aug. 31) and Manhattan (Aug. 31). Tournament play continues for the Crusaders on Sept. 6 as they battle host team Harvard to kick off the Harvard Invitational. Crusaders then square off against Hofstra (Sept. 7) and 2012 NCAA tournament participant Maryland-Eastern Shore (Sept. 7).

Following a game played at Hartford (Sept. 10) the Crusaders travel to Providence, R.I. to partake in their third and final tournament to begin the season. Holy Cross plays the host team Brown (Sept. 13), followed by two matches against Eastern Michigan (Sept. 14) and Bryant (Sept. 14).

The Crusaders open a four-game home stand against Quinnipiac (Sept. 18). Conference play then begins as Bucknell visits the Holy Cross Field House on Sept. 20, followed by Lehigh (Sept. 21) and non-conference opponent Central Connecticut (Sept. 25). The team then hits the road for four matches. The road trip starts off in Hamilton, N.Y. as the Crusaders face off against 2012 Patriot League champion Colgate (Sept. 28), followed by matches at American (Oct. 4) and Loyola (Md.) (Oct. 5). The road trip concludes with a rematch from the Brown Invitational as the Crusaders duel Bryant for the second time of the season (Oct. 8).

The final 11 matches are against conference opponents as the Crusaders play Navy (Oct. 11) and Lafayette (Oct. 12) at home. Holy Cross then plays at Army (Oct. 15) followed by a rematch against Army at home (Oct. 19). The Crusaders then play back-to-back nights at Lehigh (Oct. 25) and at Bucknell (Oct. 26). The next three contests are home against Colgate (Nov. 1), Loyola (Md.) (Nov. 8) and American (Nov. 9). The team concludes the regular season on the road at Lafayette (Nov. 15) and at Navy (Nov. 16).

The Patriot League Tournament will take place on Nov. 23-24, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the tournament.

Holy Cross will return 10 players this season as well as welcome five freshmen to the team. The Crusaders finished with a 3-27 record last season with a 2-12 record in the Patriot League.
