WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior captain Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) posted her 1,000th career dig in the Holy Cross volleyball team's 3-0 loss to Colgate, at the Holy Cross Field House in Patriot League action on Friday night by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-14. Lynch is the first player in program history to post over 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs as she now has 1,359 kills and 1,004 digs. Earlier this season she set the school record for career kills. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-17 overall (0-3 PL), while the Raiders improve to 5-12 overall (3-0 PL).
Lynch led the team with seven kills, while she also tallied six digs. Senior captain Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) led the team with 15 digs, while sophomore Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) tallied 23 assists and nine digs. Sophomore Kamele Shizuru (Kailua, Hawaii) led the Crusaders with a career-best four blocks. Sophomore Heather Roberts (San Jose, Calif.) also had nine digs.
Kaylee Fifer posted a double-double for the Raiders with 34 assists and 13 digs. Caitlin Cremin led the team with 23 digs, while Diane Seely and Kenzie Hume each tallied nine kills. Seely and Mari Faines each had four blocks. Fifer and Cremin each posted two aces.
With Colgate leading 17-15 in the first set, the Raiders won eight of the last 12 points to earn a 25-19 victory. Lynch led the team with seven kills as she posted a .429 hitting percentage. Both teams played strong offense as Colgate tallied a .364 hitting percentage and the Crusaders posted a .323 percentage. The Raiders took the second set by a 25-17 score as Hume led the team with four kills. Colgate clinched the sweep with a 25-14 victory in the third set. Junior Alex Aycock (Jonesboro, Ark.) led the Crusaders with five kills as she tallied a .455 hitting percentage. Seely led the Raiders with four kills. Fifer clinched all three sets for the Raiders as tallied two set-point kills and posted an ace on match-point.
