Volleyball Drops 3-0 Contest To American
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kelly McCaddin led the Eagles with 10 kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to American, 3-0, at Bender Arena on Saturday afternoon in Patriot League action by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-13. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-15 overall (0-2 PL), while the Eagles improve to 8-6 overall (1-1 PL).
Sophomore Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) tallied a double-double with 15 assists and 11 digs. The double-double was her second of the season and the 11th of her career. Senior captain Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders with nine kills, while senior captain Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) totaled 10 digs. Lynch and freshman Emily Oliver (Carlsbad, Calif.) each posted two blocks.
Morgan Hendrix tallied nine kills for the Eagles, while Rebecca Heath totaled nine digs. Kylann Scheidt posted 23 assists. Hendrix led the team with five blocks.
The Eagles took the first set by a 25-12 score as they posted a .379 hitting percentage and McCaddin tallied five kills. Hendrix led American in the 25-17 second-set victory with six kills. The Eagles closed out the match by winning the third set, 25-13, as they posted a .385 hitting percentage. Lynch led the Crusaders with five kills for the set.
The Crusaders return to action when they play at Harvard on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m.
