Volleyball Drops Match To Central Connecticut, 3-2

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Christiana Blakeslee (Ashtabula, Ohio) recorded her first career double-double with 34 assists and 11 digs but the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Central Connecticut, 3-2, at the Holly Young Invitational at Lundholm Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon by scores of 25-18, 24-26, 21-25, 25-12 and 15-5. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-9 overall, while CCSU improves to 5-5 overall. Senior captain Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) was named to the All-Tournament team.

Sophomore Alicia Swearingen (Springdale, Ark.) led the Crusaders with 13 kills, while Watters tallied 21 digs. Senior captain Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) had nine kills, while senior Liz Ashton (Milford, Mass.) led the team with five blocks.

CCSU was led by Emily Cochran who posted a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs. Makenna Lommori tallied 43 assists and Brittany Schumacher tallied 21 digs for CCSU.

The Crusaders return to action when they play Hartford on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7:00 p.m., at the Holy Cross Field House.
