Volleyball Hosts Sader Showdown
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross volleyball team hosted the first-ever Sader Showdown Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, April 28, at the Holy Cross Field House. The tournament was open to all Holy Cross students and staff. Proceeds from the tournament went to support the Holy Cross volleyball program.
The Field House was bumpin' with music, whistles and laughter as Holy Cross students filed in. The teams dressed in costumes and came up with silly team names. Some members of the men's crew team came dressed as the HCVB players… wigs, makeup, jerseys, spandex and all! Their wigs were braided, cut and dyed. They even took it one step further as they cheered and acted like the player they represented. Needless to say, they won best costume. Other costumes included flannel shirts, Hawaiian shirts, red shirts and quite a few brave men sporting spandex. The best team name went to Notorious D.I.G. Pizza and t-shirts were for sale and raffle winners announced to round out the day. There were a total of 11 teams that came to compete, but only one team crowned as champions. Junior Varsity, a group from the men's club volleyball team, ended up winning the tournament in a thrilling 25-23 championship game.
A special thanks to all of those that participated, cheered on their favorite teams and organized the event. A good time was had by all!
