Volleyball Falls To Army In Three Sets

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) recorded her 16th double-double of the season with 18 kills and 14 digs to lead the Crusaders, but the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Army, 3-0, by scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-16 in Patriot League action at the Holy Cross Field House on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 6-15 overall (2-3 Patriot League), while the Black Knights improve to 13-6 overall (4-1 Patriot League).

Lynch averaged an outstanding 6.0 kills and 4.7 digs per set as the double-double is the 43rd of her career. Freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) just missed a double-double with 32 assists and nine digs. Freshman Layne Hubbard (Austin, Texas) and senior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) each posted six kills, while junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) picked up 11 digs.  

Army was led by Megan Wilton who posted 10 kills and Mary Vaccaro who tallied 39 assists. Ariana Mankus and D.J. Phee each earned 18 digs.

The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to take on Patriot League opponent Colgate at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 14.
