SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) tallied 11 kills and 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season and the 35th of her career, but the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Bryant, 3-0, on Saturday evening by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-23, at the Bryant Invitational. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-6 overall and went 1-2 at the tournament, while the Bulldogs improve to 3-6 overall. Lynch was outstanding over the three matches as she earned Bryant Invitational MVP accolades. She recorded a total of 39 kills, averaging 4.33 kills per set, while she also posted 35 digs during the tournament for 3.89 digs per set. Lynch tallied 15 kills and 14 digs in the Crusaders' 3-0 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore. This is her first career regular season tournament MVP honor.
Junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) led the Crusaders with 15 digs. She has recorded double-digit digs in nine of the 10 matches this season. Freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) posted 19 assists, while senior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) tallied seven kills with a team-best .412 hitting percentage.
Bryant was led by Jasmin Stoner who tallied 10 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Jadith Lorenzo posted 20 assists and Macy Mitravich recorded 24 digs.
The Crusaders return to action when they play Dartmouth on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Holy Cross Field House at 7:00 p.m.
